"I am proud of my choice to live in DeKalb County for over 25 years, and I promise to serve the citizens of DeKalb County so that they can all be proud of their State's Attorney again."

-- Chuck Rea --

I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives.  I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him."

Abraham Lincoln

I'm running for State's Attorney to serve you.  My entire adult life has been focused on raising my children to be productive citizens with a passion for what they do and compassion for those around them, the rule of law and on my being an active and responsible participant in our community.  You don't do these things for recognition or awards, but because they are the right things to do.

As State's Attorney, I will serve you.  All assistant state's attorneys are licensed attorneys.  My assistants will have the discretion to handle their cases as attorneys. Prosecuting cases with the cookie-cutter approach of "we always do this on this type of case" will stop.  Justice by definition must be done on a case by case basis, based upon the facts of each individual case.  My assistants will know the facts of their cases better than anyone, and will be trained in the prosecution of their cases better than anyone.  With this knowledge and training they will have the tools to do justice with their cases.  With this increased individual discretion and flexibility, will come increased individual professional responsibility.  My assistants will be guided by one rule and one guideline.  The rule will be to do justice, and the guideline will be to be courteous to everyone in doing this justice.  I will consider them all as my personal representatives.

When I am elected State's Attorney we will implement an extensive in-house training program that will be second to none.  I will emphasize teamwork and a spirit of cooperation among all members of the office, attorneys and support staff, as well as between our office and the other offices, agencies, and individuals that work with the State's Attorney's Office in carrying out it's mission; to serve you.

Along with the extensive, regular, in-house training, I will have specialized training and emphasis for individual assistants in the areas of:

* Domestic/Sexual Abuse                    * Narcotics Enforcement                                   * Internet/Cyber Crimes

*Elder Abuse                                         * Gang Crimes                                                     * Juvenile Justice/Bullying

These areas of emphasis will be in addition to, but not at the expense of the every day enforcement of the Criminal Code and Juvenile Courts Act.

I will modernize the policies and procedures for communication with police departments, witnesses and victims to better serve these constituents while saving your tax dollars.

In addition to his duty as a prosecutor, the State's Attorney represents DeKalb County and it's elected officials.  These duties will be handled under my supervision, in-house, in a timely fashion, by properly trained assistants.  They will be trained both in the law and in the ability to communicate and cooperate in an appropriate, courteous and professional manner with the other offices, agencies, officials and citizens this representation requires.

"It's what you learn after you know it all that counts."  ~ John Wooden

While I feel I am the most experienced and qualified candidate asking for your vote as State's Attorney, to be successful in that office, after being elected you must be able to work in cooperation with the other organizations and individuals the duties of the office bring you in contact with.  I pledge to create and maintain an open and transparent relationship with all.  First and foremost, I will listen.
